The reason for doing these experiments back-to-back is that the best performance of the instrument is expected after it has been running for several days, and the in-situ Al experiment is very demanding. The classes of materials to be measured include: silica in suspensions (V. Tohver, UIUC), temperature dependence of classes of polymers (J. Ilavsky, NIST), precipitates in steels (P. Jemian, UIUC, NIST), nano- zirconia suspensions (A. Allen, NIST), MgAl2O4 spinels (A. Allen, NIST) and reinforcing silicas synthesized by different protocols (D. Schaefer, U. Cin.). equipment+required: No additional experiment: USAXS for materials characterization hazards: The only hazard is the pH of the solution in which the silicas and nano- zirconias are suspended. Generally, there are around 5 - 7, but occasionally it is necessary to use low pH. These will be handled appropriately, and will be removed from the Sector when the experiments are over. name: Gabrielle Long new+request: on nonmembers: Dale Schaefer and ChunYan Chen, U. of Cincinnati Valeria Tohver, UIUC station: 33ID-D unacceptable+dates: Nov. 25 - Dec. 3 (Thanksgiving + MRS Fall Meeting in Boston) We would appreciate a chance to work early in November, if possible, to make use of the SAXS still set up from September. #QUERY_STRING: #REMOTE_HOST: mat180.nist.gov #REMOTE_ADDR: 129.6.180.180 #CONTENT_LENGTH: 1836 #HTTP_REFERER: http://www.uni.aps.anl.gov/unireq.htm #HTTP_USER_AGENT: Mozilla/3.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC)
