This is one of the underlying assumptions of contrast variation methods in SANS analysis but comes into question when the degree of hydrogen bonding becomes important. (2) We wish to continue our studies of the porous defect structures in sintered nanocrystalline alumina compacts. This issue is important for optimizing the transparency of thin alumina coatings as used in fluorescent lighting etc. (3) We would like to test with standard USAXS conditions candidate ceramic coating materials to be tried initially in our development of near-surface USAXS studies of thin coatings on substrates. (This requires the anisotropic USAXS configuration and is being requested for later in the cycle). equipment+required: Standard USAXS configuration experiment: Structural studies of D2O in cements and defects in ceramics foreign+nationals: Sujarinee Kochwatanna (second visit) hazards: None name: Andrew Allen nonmembers: Jeff Thomas for (1) Sujarinee Kochwatanna for (2) station: 33ID-D unacceptable+dates: January 21 - February 10th We request this time early in the cycle (say January 17-19) in order to evaluate the results from (3) above prior to returning for the anisotropic USAXS experiment requested at the end of the schedule period. #QUERY_STRING: #REMOTE_HOST: porcelain.nist.gov #REMOTE_ADDR: 129.6.180.24 #CONTENT_LENGTH: 1471 #HTTP_REFERER: http://www.uni.aps.anl.gov/unireq.htm #HTTP_USER_AGENT: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.0; Mac_PowerPC)
