The first experiment will try to recover the microstructure from the top 1-2 micrometers of samples for which we already know the microstructure. Eventually we want to look at coatings on substrates. We emphasize that this is small-angle scattering not reflectometry. Although something along these lines has been done with a conventional SAXS set-up, we believe this may be the first attempt to do this with USAXS. The anisotropic configuration is required because the experiment is anisotropic even if the microstructure is not. equipment+required: Anisotropic USAXS configuration with goniometric stage (as used in the dislocations experiments). experiment: Anisotropic USAXS studies of coatings on substrates. foreign+nationals: hazards: None name: Andrew Allen nonmembers: None save Jan Ilavsky not listed above (also for earlier time requested). station: 33ID-D unacceptable+dates: January 21 - February 10th We request this time late in the cycle (say during March) in order to have evaluated the results from tests on candidate samples carried out in the earlier period requested in this scheduling cycle. #QUERY_STRING: #REMOTE_HOST: porcelain.nist.gov #REMOTE_ADDR: 129.6.180.24 #CONTENT_LENGTH: 1364 #HTTP_REFERER: http://www.uni.aps.anl.gov/unireq.htm #HTTP_USER_AGENT: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.0; Mac_PowerPC)
