description:
	We will collect powder diffraction patterns from early stage growth of oxide scales. The data will be used to characterize the grain size and residual stresses as a function of scale thickness. Intense synchrotron radiation is required to collect significant powder diffraction patterns in the early stages of growth.

	Kappa diffractometer and CCD detector.

	The stage will use resistive heating to produce a sample at up to 1200 degrees C. The sample will be open (in air). The sample will glow which should indicate the hazard.
