This metastable configuration has been suggested to be defined by Quantum Size Effects (QSEs). A fully wetting flat film, free of voids, can be obtained only for thickness of more than 6ML, the critical thickness, and slow annealing to room temperature. We have studied films of thickness of less than 6ML. We want to explore the evolution of the film morphology, during deposition and annealing, for thickness beyond the critical value of 6ML. Expected turn-around time for bake-out and outgassing is 32 hrs. Allocation of multiple 16-24hrs slots separated at least for 48 hrs will be welcomed. equipment+required: Roper CCD experiment: Ag film growth on Si(111) @ low temperatures foreign+nationals: Leonardo Basile, Zhongming Wu hazards: LN2 use.
