	We will compare the grain structure in friction stir welds to the grain structure in fusion welds. We will make 3D measurements on Al-Al and Al-Mg welds. Information that will be recovered will include, the phase, grain size, morphology, grain boundary types, and strain both at the weld and near the weld.
