The big problem was to stabilize the cubes against radiation induced motion. We plan to investigate the strength of various gluing agents by their ability to properly anchor the Ag cubes. Particle preparations will have various film materials evaporated onto them in the MRL. We will attempt to use high temperature ceramic glues, synthetic glass compounds etc. If we succeed we have plans to evaluate through-focal series and the use of linear zone plates. equipment_required: KB mirrors. experiment: Stabilization of Ag Nanocrystals foreign_nationals: Franz Pfeiffer (SLS/PSI) Christian David (PSI) hazards: Hazardous chemical preparations will be carried out off-site. Particle preparations will have various film materials evaporated onto them in the MRL. Routine use of glues will be donein the chem lab. minimumdays: 5 name: Ian Robinson new_request: ON nonmembers: Franz Pfeiffer (SLS/PSI) Christian David (PSI) unacceptable_dates: Franz Pfeiffer plans to come to APS during the period 1-10 Dec to take part in these experiments. Christian David (PSI) plans to come to set up one of his zone plates. z34ID_change_undulator: no z34ID_details: Must stay at one energy, especially the part with the zone plate. Could run parastitic if the E station is not tapering or changing energy. z34ID_parasitic: no #REMOTE_HOST: robinsonpc.mrl.uiuc.edu #REMOTE_ADDR: 130.126.102.115 #CONTENT_LENGTH: 1560 #HTTP_REFERER: http://www.uni.aps.anl.gov/unireq.htm #HTTP_USER_AGENT: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.01; Windows NT 5.0)
