The pressure medium will be water or water-alchol mixtures. Diffraction from the nanocrystals by CXD will be followed in the usual way, probably entering the DAC at a slight angle to the gasket. Crushing the crystals will be expected to result in the appearance of dislocations or slip structures, not least due to the non-hydrostatic properties of fluids within the DAC. For handling the DAC, we have been offered help from Peter Eng (CARS) and Yeu Meng (HP-CAT). equipment_required: Mirror setup is needed experiment: Nanocrystal deformations under high pressure foreign_nationals: hazards: beryllium washer instrument: 34ID-C coherent instrument_other: minimumdays: 5 name: Meng Liang nonmembers: Peter Eng (CARS) Yeu Meng (HP-CAT) unacceptable_dates: Best dates would be Feb 4-10. z34ID_change_undulator: no z34ID_details: May need to raise energy from standard 9keV to get through DAC gasket z34ID_parasitic: yes #REMOTE_HOST: robinsonpc.mrl.uiuc.edu #REMOTE_ADDR: 130.126.102.115 #CONTENT_LENGTH: 1191 #HTTP_REFERER: http://www.uni.aps.anl.gov/unireq.htm #HTTP_USER_AGENT: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0)
