Useful information has been obtained and different behaviors across different grain boundary types have been observed. Individual grain rotations, along with sub-grain structures have been measured. We found that we can relate the sub-grain structures observed in the individual grains to their orientations with respect to the loading axis and with respect to the orientations of their neighboring grains. To investigate the behavior of different grain boundary types, we propose to perform experiments on a set of tricrystals with controlled grain boundary structures. Experiments on samples with simple microstructures are necessary to initiate modeling calculations. One bicrystal and one tricrystal will be measured. Based on previous experiments, it is estimated 4 days will be needed for each sample.
