Samples of high-explosives will be charcterized by USAXS methods to facilitate further more complex study. The samples will be provided by DOE laboratory (Lawrence-Livermoore). Standard USAXS study at ambient conditions and slit smeasred USAXS is appropriate. Suggest attached with another NIST (Andrew Allen for exaple) slit smeared USAXS study to provide with possible beam time sharing if appropriate. equipment_required: experiment: Microstructure characterization of high explosives foreign_nationals: hazards: Samples are routienly handled at another DOE lab (LLnL) and source has experience with their appropriate handling and shipping (acording to DOE regulations). Apparently, the weight and size are such, that the samples fall in the "small volume" category, when they may not be considered as explosives due to small volume. I will deal with the safety issues through the APS safety personnel - already asked Elroy for basic information. Experiment itself for this time is very simple - solid premounted samples, ambient conditions. instrument: 33ID-D USAXS instrument_other: minimumdays: 16 hours name: Jan Ilavsky new_request: ON nonmembers: Brandon Week, LLnL, possibly his collaborators unacceptable_dates: ACA meeting, APS sponsored meeting in WI. Request for scheduling: Preferably July - August so I have time to sort out safety and materials availability. Preferably attached to another slit smeared USAXS experiment, preferably another NIST experiment. z34ID_details: #REMOTE_HOST: bas.uni.aps.anl.gov #REMOTE_ADDR: 164.54.216.78 #CONTENT_LENGTH: 1673 #HTTP_REFERER: http://www.uni.aps.anl.gov/unireq.htm #HTTP_USER_AGENT: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040113
