ZnO nanorods are direct, wide-bandgap semiconductors of interest in a range of nanostructured devices. We will measure the crystal structure, the perfection (mosaic spread), and the lattice orientation along individual ZnO and (Zn,Mg)O nanorods deposited on Si wafers and glass slides. Measurements of the region near the Au or Ag catalyst will be examined in order to understand orientation and alloying effects associated with MBE growth. Results will be correlated with electrical transport measurements. equipment_required: experiment: Growth and microstructure of ZnO nanorods foreign_nationals: hazards: none instrument: 34ID-E microbeam instrument_other: minimumdays: 5 name: John Budai new_request: ON nonmembers: unacceptable_dates: Oct 5 - 11; Oct 27 – 31; Nov 6; Nov 24 - Dec 4 z34ID_change_undulator: yes z34ID_details: Large taper may make beam unsuitable for some parasitic experiments. z34ID_on_axis: no z34ID_parasitic: no z34ID_taper: yes #REMOTE_HOST: jdbg4.ornl.gov #REMOTE_ADDR: 160.91.48.40 #CONTENT_LENGTH: 1274 #HTTP_REFERER: http://www.uni.aps.anl.gov/unireq.htm #HTTP_USER_AGENT: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.22; Mac_PowerPC)
