Very little is known about He bubble formation, solubility limit, bubble size, internal pressure, stability at 100-300 C, stability under heavy ion recoil bombardment. We implanted He to different local concentrations in bulk and near a free surface (see above). Selected samples are annealed to facilite bubble formation at low concentrations (at or below the solubility limit) and for heavy ion bombardment (0.6 to 2 MeV Xe, for example). The latter treatement is to simulate the effect of heavy-ion recoil displacement cascade damage on the bubble stability. We have for the past 2 years investigated this effect with MD and are interested in comparing these simulations to real experiments. SAXS is the primary characterization technique. We have performed set of SAXS experiments at the APS using samples prepared with the accelerator. The SAXS data are consistent with the above quoted He solubility. equipment_required: No experiment: Investigation of He Bubbles in Borosilicate Glass foreign_nationals: Alexander Yuryevich Terekhov,Russia, research scholar of UIUC, APS user badge B066033A .
