Understanding the processes by which these films are made could greatly advance this field. In this experiment TiN films will be grown on sapphire substrates using pulsed laser deposition. Since this is a pulsed technique it provides an opportunity to study the growth kinetics, in situ. We propose to do an in situ study of TiN films grown on sapphire, examining the surface morphology, and surface kinetics, during growth using surface x-ray diffraction. equipment_required: experiment: growth studies of TiN films on sapphire using pulsed laser deposition foreign_nationals: hazards: class 4 laser will be used instrument: 33ID-D laser instrument_other: minimumdays: 5 name: Aaron Gray nonmembers: unacceptable_dates: 3/20/2005 through 3/26/2005 z34ID_details: #REMOTE_HOST: chiangpc2.mrl.uiuc.edu #REMOTE_ADDR: 130.126.102.86 #CONTENT_LENGTH: 927 #HTTP_REFERER: http://www.uni.aps.anl.gov/unireq.htm #HTTP_USER_AGENT: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98)
