The experiment will use the microprobe to characterize the diffuse scattering near Bragg reflections diffracted from individual grains in polycrystalline samples. New experimental requirements include cooling of the sample using a Joule-Thompson cooling stage in order to minimize thermal diffuse scattering. Scans of through the Bragg peak will require monochromatic scans in energy with fixed sample position. The resulting data will be diffuse scattering maps characteristic of point defects in irradiated iron. equipment_required: experiment: Point defect characterization in polycrystalline samples foreign_nationals: hazards: Activated samples, cryogenics and pressurized gas. instrument: 34ID-E microbeam instrument_other: minimumdays: 4 name: F.
