These range from catalyst and electrolyte membranes to new thermal barrier materials. The need for establishing more quantitative processing - microstructure - performance criteria is becoming ever more critical. We would like to investigate the anisotropic microstructures for some of the most recent materials to explore what design challenges will need to be addressed as these materials are fully developed. It is envisaged that several of the new materials will be quantitatively studied to establish the roles played by the main pore/void populations. equipment_required: experiment: SR-USAXS Studies of Plasma-Sprayed Materials for Next-Generation Catalyst Membranes, Electrolytes and Coatings foreign_nationals: Yaping LI (Chinese).
