There is a structural depletion layer that consists of water vapor. As a hydrophobic interface it is known from elipsometry to fluctuate a lot on ms time scales. XPCS at the appropriate Q-value should show these fluctuations. No mirrors needed: radiation damage is a serious problem. equipment_required: No mirrors needed. Radiation damage is a serious problem experiment: XPCS on the OTE-water interface foreign_nationals: hazards: OTE is Octadecyl Triethoxysilane, an organic coating material. Films will be prepared at UIUC and removed afterwards. They are non-volatile monolayers and have been used at UNICAT before. instrument: 34ID-C coherent instrument_other: minimumdays: 4 name: Ian Robinson nonmembers: Paul Fenter submit: Submit unacceptable_dates: Nov 9-28 unacceptable Best time is Dec 7-13. z34ID_change_undulator: no z34ID_details: Fixed energy will be used, but the best value will depend on which sample geometry is employed z34ID_parasitic: yes #REMOTE_HOST: robinsonpc.mrl.uiuc.edu #REMOTE_ADDR: 130.126.102.115 #CONTENT_LENGTH: 1138 #HTTP_REFERER: http://www.uni.aps.anl.gov/admin/unireq.html #HTTP_USER_AGENT: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0)
