This synthetic approach allows control of supported nanoparticle size from 1 nm up to very large cluster with high size monodispersity. We are interested in the size-dependent structure of these nanoparticles: the strain and disorder parameters inherent to the particle dimensions. Recent experiments on Pt on Al2O3 revealed that the cluster/support interaction has a temperature-dependent component which has dramatic implications vis-a-vis thermal expansion and thermal disorder (Debye temperature). We anticipate the Au on TiO2 is another system where these behaviors will manifest. The experiment is similar to our previous work at the beam line. We will be measuring XAFS of the nanoparticles at various temperatures and under different gas atmospheres (H2, He, and possibly O2, CO). equipment_required: experiment: Structural behavior of Au catalysts on TiO2 foreign_nationals: Joo Kang hazards: Hazards include using a heating element, cryogenic liquids, and compressed gases, and flammable gases. instrument: 33BM-B XAFS instrument_other: minimumdays: 4 name: Laurent Menard nonmembers: submit: Submit unacceptable_dates: May 12-18, July 27-29 z34ID_details: #REMOTE_HOST: cache2.bnl.gov #REMOTE_ADDR: 130.199.3.3 #CONTENT_LENGTH: 1410 #HTTP_REFERER: http://www.uni.aps.anl.gov/admin/unireq.html #HTTP_USER_AGENT: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 2.0.50727)
