Experiment will attempt to isolate a single hydride particle just as the miscibility gap is entered and record the CXD pattern. If this can be done successfully, the effect of the growth of the hydride particle on the CXD pattern will be recorded. Particle growth will be induced by increasing the hydrogen gas pressure. equipment_required: experiment: CXD measurement of an embedded hydride particle in epitaxial thin film Pd foreign_nationals: hazards: We will be using hydrogen gas at pressures up to approximately 300 Torr. Our gas handling system is all stainless steel with a gas resevior containing 1 atmosphere of hydrogen gas. No compressed gas cylinders will be used. All components including the sample will be at RT. Our environmental gas cell has a welded Be window capable of withstanding 1 atm. pressure differential and 300 C bakeout temperatures. instrument: 34ID-C coherent instrument_other: minimumdays: name: Brent Heuser nonmembers: submit: Submit unacceptable_dates: z34ID_change_undulator: no z34ID_details: z34ID_parasitic: yes #REMOTE_HOST: ne80.ne.uiuc.edu #REMOTE_ADDR: 128.174.163.80 #CONTENT_LENGTH: 1242 #HTTP_REFERER: http://www.uni.aps.anl.gov/admin/unireq.html #HTTP_USER_AGENT: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)
