Measurements will be made on both elastically and plastically bent Si and measurements of the geometrically necessary dislocation (GND) densities will be determined. Measurements of the deformation microstructure below nanoindents in Cu will be performed to investigate deformation distributions and GNDs. Measurements of the deformation distribution and martensitic phase changes below indents in shape memory alloy NiTi will be performed on sampes supplied by Yijun Zhang (MSU) and Y. T.
