The size of these minerals are around 20-200 nm in the form of single crystals (ideal sample for CXD study). Coherent x-ray diffraction is a powerful tool to reveal direct structural information, which will provide rich information regarding the formation of the mineral as well as the diamond. Besides the initial pressure study, additional external compress experiment will give us more dynamical study on the inclusion sample if the inclusion is sealed in a diamond anvil cell. The measurement of the inclusion without DAC will also help to answer the question why the coherent diffraction data of the nano-crystalline samples loaded in DAC looks very asymmetric. One possible reason is the Be gasket used to seal DAC distorts the incident wave front so the wave front has very complicated phase structure after the wave pass the Be. Comparing the coherent diffraction data of the inclusions with that with a DAC could make this puzzle clear. equipment_required: experiment: Coherent diffraction experiment on inclusions in diamond foreign_nationals: hazards: Nothing hazardous. instrument: 34ID-C coherent instrument_other: minimumdays: 6 name: Qun Shen nonmembers: submit: Submit unacceptable_dates: Mar 5-9, 2007 z34ID_change_undulator: yes z34ID_details: no z34ID_parasitic: yes #REMOTE_HOST: visa38.aps.anl.gov #REMOTE_ADDR: 164.54.61.68 #CONTENT_LENGTH: 1506 #HTTP_REFERER: http://www.uni.aps.anl.gov/admin/unireq.html #HTTP_USER_AGENT: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20060912 Netscape/8.1.2
