A continuous diffraction pattern is obtained by Coherent X-ray Diffraction around a Bragg reflection. The symmetric and antisymmetric form of the resulting pattern relates to its shape and strain respectively. Hence a 3D representation of the strain present in the nanowire can be obtained.
